In Russia, EMAS partners with a Christian medical missions organization called Agape, which was started in 1992, by Dr. Bill Becknell. Agape’s aim is to go to the “ends of the earth” to share God’s love by providing primary medical and dental care to the needy in very remote areas of Russia. These missions require doctors, dentists, nurses, medical technologists and lay people.

For 2008, the following programs are available:

• March 29–April 13, 2008—Spring Expedition (Kalmukia, Southern Russia) Medical Program;
  

• June 28–July 1, 2008—Summer Expedition (Khakassia, Northern Siberia) Children’s Character Program (This program is ideal for older teenagers and young adults who will work with a Christian camp for kids to help them develop a strong Christian character.);
  

• September 6–21, 2008—Siberian Expedition (Tuva, Southeast Siberia) Medical Program;
  

• Moscow Medical Program (for two weeks).

It has been very fulfilling to see the appreciation of the people, in remote areas of rural Russia, to the care and love that the medical team brings to them. It is also very inspiring to see churches with such limited resources reaching out to share the love of Jesus Christ and to encourage people to come to a personal relationship with Him. The medical teams provide encouragement and opportunities for these churches as they move out to plant new churches.
