In the southern provinces, EMAS works in liaison with the Yunnan Red Cross. There are always new areas opening up, in need of assistance in the area of healthcare. Dental problems are endemic in this sugar cane growing area where no one ever sees a dentist.

Yunnan Project

November 2009

We have a number of teams in this region, including surgery, dental, medical, psychiatry and ophthalmology teams. We conduct clinics in remote villages and at the local hospital. We treat patients and teach medical students. As most people never see a dentist, in this region, dental problems are widespread. The dental team visits elementary schools, treating children and teaching them oral hygiene. Funds are still needed for the medical team, the community psychiatric care team and also for cataract surgeries.

Caring for needy people, changes our lives, as well as theirs.

Kunming Project

November 2009

Corrective surgery can change someone’s life. The team operates on many children with injuries, burns, cleft lips, cleft palate, a congenital deformity or in need of a traumatic amputation. Funds are needed for hospital charges, equipment, medication, hospital food, the rehab program and the local prosthesis factory.
