One of the poorest countries in Africa, Congo has been greatly affected by war. Children die faster here than in all but ten other countries in the world. Malaria kills an estimated 180,000 Congolese each year, the majority of them are children.

French-speaking Medical Mentors Needed

EMAS helps train competent doctors by providing mentors
for young French-speaking Congolese medical graduates.

We need mentors to share their knowledge in various areas
of expertise such as surgery, OB/GYN, paediatrics and internal
medicine, discussing case studies by e-mail.

Feel free to contact us for more information.

Chorela Outbreak in DR Congo Claims 29 Lives.

The Western Bolobo region of the Democratic Republic of Congo has been affected by a cholera outbreak. 483 cholera cases have been documented since the end of May. This is the 5th major outbreak in 50 years. The drinking water is believed to be the cause.

November 2009

There are opportunities for short-term teaching trips. Professors and doctors are asking for our help to graduate competent doctors. The project also promotes student sponsorship and is involved in raising funds to support the UCKIN Christian medical school faculty.

October 2007

When in Congo, we wear many hats such as, attending the AMC doctors' teaching conference in Kinshasa, attending a teaching day at the UCKIN University (with approximately 50 participants) and do rounds at certain clinics with local students and doctors.

We also spend time with the UCKIN administration discussing
the medical school. Discussion topics include curriculum, resources
for the students and support for the faculty of medicine office.

Thank you for your support!
