The people of Malawi are suffering from diseases such as AIDS, malaria and TB. Nearly one-third of the young adult population of Malawi is infected with the HIV virus which has already claimed the lives of a whole generation of parents. Elderly grandparents are left to look after their orphaned grandchildren, most of which are severely anemic from chronic malaria, malnutrition and intestinal parasites.

September 2010
The physician and nurses worked at the main LLM clinic, in Ngodzi. We saw about 250 patients, many children with malaria or pneumonia, and many adults with HIV/AIDS. Some of the outreach clinics were cancelled due to lack of funds and drugs, with the exception of one clinic in Matowe. That clinic was combined with a school visit where we gave a health talk and screened children for anemia and scalp ringworm. Our pre-med student, had opportunity to learn how to prepare malaria and TB smears in the lab.
The 'construction' portion of our team had a very productive time renovating the Matowe Outreach Clinic and rebuilding a pit latrine. The village chief and others worked side by side on the project. Although it wasn't completely finished the funds we raised, for this project, will be used to bring it to completion. Some of the team members preached two Sundays in local churches, prayed with patients, encouraged local pastors, and showed Christian films. Three of us shared in LLM's morning staff devotions, encouraging them in their faith and challenging them to integrate their faith into their medical practice.
Our two weeks in Malawi were rich and rewarding for
May 2010 Clinic upgrade We have been challenged to help upgrade a clinic to deliver healthcare services to the villagers. We have plans to improve a structure, providing a more adequate solution for this community which is very much in need of healthcare services. We appreciate your support of our fundraising
November 2009 In collaboration with Lifeline Malawi, the EMAS team provides hands-on medical care in village clinics, assists with training of local medical personnel, and provides spiritual support. Malaria is rampant in this region and the team has also distributed insecticide-treated mosquito nets to protect people from infected mosquitoes. Malaria often causes severe anemia and death in children.
Lifeline Malawi is excited to join together in partnership with short-term mission teams that are aligned with their core values and are willing to come with a servant's heart and help Lifeline Malawi advance its vision for the people of Malawi.
◦Malaria; ◦Tuberculosis; ◦Tropical Skin Disease; ◦Cholera & G.I. Disease; ◦Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI); There are many reasons why people want to come to Africa, and in particular Malawi as part of a short-term team. Each year, the specific priorities and projects will vary. It is always best to check with Lifeline Malawi first to see which STMs are still available. In many cases, there is some flexibility in order to accommodate team leaders and their team's availability, flights, and other logistics.
