Tax-Smart Giving Opportunities
We now have an EMAS Development Trust Fund. (See the "Planned Giving" link on this website.) This trust fund incorporates the benefits concerning capital gains tax on charitable gifts of publicly listed securities, that was contained in the 2006 federal budget. Namely, non-cash assets donated to charitable organizations will not result in any capital gains tax being attributed to the donor. Because Ottawa made this provision for charities, your gift can benefit you as well as help launch new initiatives for EMAS.
In addition to gifts of publicly listed securities and stocks, you may also make gifts of life insurance, annuities, revocable and irrevocable trusts, or leave a bequest in your will through the Planned Giving program. Brochures regarding these different types of gifts are available upon request through the EMAS National Office or electronic versions can be accessed on the Planned Giving section of this website. For more information, please contact the EMAS National Office at info@emascanada.org

Positioning Ourselves for the Future!
Over the past year, both the CMDS Executive and the EMAS Board have engaged in prayerful review of the goals and needs of their respective organizations. At a recent joint-meeting, it was concluded that, given the distinct cultures, goals and present growth stage of EMAS and CMDS, the optimal administrative structure, going forward, is for each organization to employ its own Executive Director and staff. The CMDS Executive and the EMAS Board are committed to an on-going affiliation that reflects the close relationship the two organizations have shared in the past. As a result, we ask for your prayers and your support during the transition period that's before us.
