The Deadly Cholera Epidemic
Plagues Haiti Once Again.

Weeks of heavy rains in Haiti have caused the spread of the dreaded waterborne cholera bacteria that flourishes in the rivers and rice fields.

In Mirebalais, one hour's drive north-east of Port-au-Prince, the treatment centre is again seeing dozens of new patients a day, many arriving at the brink of death due to dehydration. Cholera has affected at least 370,000 people and killed more than 5,500 since the initial outbreak last October.

A Smart Way
To Give

Donating appreciated publicly listed securities (stocks or mutual funds) is the most tax-effective way to give. You pay no capital gains tax and you get the charitable tax credit.

In addition to gifts of publicly listed securities and stocks, you may also make gifts of life insurance, annuities, revocable and irrevocable trusts, or leave a bequest in your will through the Planned Giving Program.
