We have been asked by Bishop Joshua Banda, of the Northmead Assembly of God Church in Lusaka, Zambia, if we could send a medical team to Chipepo, where they have established a mission post and a small church. Chipepo is a very poor community on the edge of Lake Kariba (the man-made lake which is shared by Zambia and Zimbabwe); it is about 160 km south of Lusaka. The nearest medical facility is approximately five hours walk from there and the immediate catchment area has a population of about 10,000.

We know very little about Chipepo and would therefore view this first visit as a scouting trip to determine conditions and the community's healthcare needs. We understand however that living conditions will be rough. For this first visit, we think that a general practitioner with experience in Africa, who is not deterred by difficult living conditions, would be ideal.

A visit from a doctor would be an incredible blessing for this poor community and would touch the lives of hundreds of people.

Please prayerfully consider if this is an opportunity you are willing to explore.
