Dear EMAS Family,

I am grateful to have had the opportunity to serve EMAS Canada as Board Chair for these last number of years. From my early years in medical school, I have had a heart for medical missions, and served in Africa for five years early in my career. Upon return to Canada, an older medical colleague took me under his wing as a “father,” and introduced me to EMAS, then still under the same roof as CMDS. It has been a privilege to serve since then as Board Member, Team Leader, and then Board Chair. It has been a precious journey.

Serving has given me the opportunity to grow as a leader, as a team builder, personally, and spiritually. With God’s help, I have desired to serve with humility and integrity. Staff, both former and current, have been tremendous and I thank God for them. And I thank God for Dr. Emile Woo who has succeeded me as Chair. I feel confident that he will lead EMAS forward into what will likely be a time of significant geopolitical changes in some of the countries where we minister. Where one door may close, we believe another will open and we have regular requests from around the world for help and ministry.

I want to thank you as EMAS family for your prayers and financial support. Without you, our ongoing work would not be possible. Please continue to give so that our work of ministering the underserved around the world can continue.

Sincerely in Christ,

Henk Visser, MD, CIME
Past Board Chair
