There is an audacity that comes from certitude. This kind of conviction that drives action is deeply rooted and nothing can divert it.

I am persuaded beyond all doubt that an ancient Jewish prophecy about God showing up and being available to everyone was fulfilled through Jesus Christ, I live and work with people who share this belief. I also live and work with many more who do not believe as I do.

Nonetheless, EMAS Canada under my leadership, (as it did before my time), delivers healthcare and education without discrimination because God cares about people’s suffering. Together with the leaders of EMAS, we are firm in our minds that conformity to the values and teaching of Jesus Christ demands compassion towards all people consistent with His empathy and sympathy for humankind.

One gospel account records Jesus as being broken-hearted when He saw the misery of people suffering from all kinds of diseases and disabilities. He likened the suffering masses to sheep without a shepherd.

The prophecy about God turning up like never before opens with this bold statement:

“Here is your God!” Then it introduces the Sovereign Lord as arriving in power and authority, it speaks of might, it paints in the mind an image of a conquering warrior in possession of the spoils of His victory. The prophecy goes on to describe One of great compassion, a Shepherd whose tenderness is congruent with the maternal side of Jesus Christ.

It is a strange duality, the Sovereign Lord who must be the one beyond whom there is no ascendancy, simultaneously presents to us as a lowly shepherd who is deeply sensitive to the needs of humankind. This is the mystery that is at the heart of our religion.

It is a universal tenet of Christianity that God is offering amnesty to all people based on the sacrificial atonement by Jesus Christ. It is possible to become reconciled with God for those who believe there is an estrangement.

EMAS Canada is motivated by the love that God has shown all mankind in this offer of amnesty.

We are sure that Jesus Christ died for all humankind, that is why we live for Him, doing medical missions as an expression of His life of compassion to all. We are absolutely convinced that Jesus rose from the dead to give eternal life to anyone who trusts Him for it.

This is what Easter is all about.
